Restaurant & Lounge

The moment you step aboard the ‘Lord of the Glens’ you are surrounded by the rich mahogany finishes of the reception area and lobby. Here there is a state-of-the-art music, radio, video, and Satellite TV control centre which operates these facilities on board. Of special note in the entrance to the Restaurant is the model of the 'Royal Scot' line locomotive the 'Hussar' and the ‘Gladstone’ bought by the owner at auction in the 1970’s.

The Bar & Lounge are located on the top deck and affords magnificent views of the surrounding scenery besides leading to the forward & aft viewing areas. Inside the tables and bar are again finished in rich mahogany, whilst the sofas lend a plush and colourful contrast. Seating is variously traditional as well as providing for original 1929 ‘Riviera’ armchairs from the legendary ‘Cote d’Azur’ Express – light fittings are from the Nord Norge. There is a small dance and entertainment area where local artistes occasionally give performances/talks. Early risers may make use of the complimentary self service hot beverages bar before breakfast and throughout the day.

This splendid restaurant accommodates up to 60 diners in one sitting with tables unassigned. There are all-round picture windows, plush carpeting with tables adorned with the finest Burgundy and white linen, Villeroy Boch cutlery and crockery.

The cuisine is excellent making use of the bountiful local produce: fresh fish, meats and poultry are delivered to the vessel daily. A full Scottish breakfast is served comprising eggs, bacon, tomatoes, black pudding, toast, fresh bread, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts together with coffee and tea. A nice touch is the restaurant's ceiling dotted with tiny lights to simulate the northern sky surrounding an illuminated glass panel from the flagship of the Union Castle Line the RMS Windsor Castle and below carver chairs from the same ship, elsewhere original lithographs by David Roberts adorn the walls complemented by wall lights from the Nord Norge. The restaurant is also fully equipped for sophisticated theatre style audiovisual presentations as well as being air-conditioned/heated. Special Diets: Please enquire, 0207 372 2077
