Welcome to Lord of the Glens
The elegant, classic, and timeless appeal of MV Lord of the Glens
There is only one way to discover the intricate, inland waters of the Caledonian Canal, and the stunningly beautiful west coast of Scotland – on board the truly unique Lord of the Glens. Appointed in the style of a country manor with richly clad mahogany finishes and warm furnishings, internally the vessel deliberately shuns the ‘urban chic’ and the contemporary, for one that is most certainly more in sympathy with both the landscape and the environment.
Small-ship cruising in a relaxed style
This is not mass-market, production-line tourism, but tailor-made travel of the old-fashioned variety. Unlike the standard, modern-day ocean cruise, the maximum number of passengers is 52, and the emphasis is not on speed, but on style. At all times, progress is serene-to-steady, rather than rushed, which means the view through the windows remains beautiful, rather than blurred.
There are four itineraries from which to choose – all make a transit of the hauntingly beautiful Caledonian Canal. Running from Inverness in the north-east to Fort William (Corpach) in the west, this 62-mile coast to coast channel passes through pretty towns and villages, scenic lochs, and stunning countryside.
Dining and cuisine
The splendid restaurant with all-round picture windows accommodates all guests in one sitting. Meals are freshly prepared on board by a loyal brigade of chefs, drawing on the rich bounty of locally sourced produce.
